CANNON Hall Farm has said goodbye to its oldest animal Victor the llama who died last week.
Victor was one of the first animals to join the farm when it opened in 1989 and although his exact age was not know, he was one of the farm’s most beloved animals.
In 2014 when a new soft play area was opened, it was named The Hungry Llama in honour of Victor.
Farmer Richard Nicholson took a photo of Victor eating a piece of straw, which was one of Richard’s favourite photos and became and remains the farm’s profile picture on Facebook.
However, due to Victor’s declining health in his old age, staff at the farm had to make the ‘sad’ decision to put him to sleep.
Richard said: “He was always a lovely ‘fella’ he wasn’t quite strong enough to be the alpha of a pack but he always wanted something to care for.
“He ended up making the pygmy goats his own and he spent many happy years living with those and baby sitting for the new mums.
“We are incredibly sad to see him go because he was so loved - many visitors over the years will have memories of Victor because of his really distinctive face.
“We lost Victor on the same day our first twin lambs of the season were born.”
The farm is running the lambing festival which ends on Sunday.
