Supermarket teams up with food charity to help feed residents
A LOCAL supermarket has donated the equivalent of more than 1,400 meals to charities and community groups in its neighbouring villages through a partnership with a food charity.

Four tonnes of food donated
MORE than four tonnes of food - equivalent to almost 10,000 meals - was donated to Barnsley Foodbank Partnership during a Tesco donation event.
The supermarket’s Christmas collection scheme saw Hoyland, Penistone and Stairfoot Tesco stores take part to donate ‘trolleys upon trolleys’ of food for emergency parcels.
The equivalent to 9,595 meals were donated by Barnsley residents.

FIREFIGHTERS helped an injured woman from a car which had overturned at the Birdwell end of Sheffield Road on Tuesday afternoon.
She was taken to Barnsley hospital suffering from neck and back injuries after she was freed from the Corsa, which had been in a collision with a Fiesta.

FIVE railway stations across the borough will be upgraded thanks to a multi-million pound scheme which is set to make travel safer for commuters.
