FATHER Darren Percival is set to get himself into a sticky situation this evening as he waxes his legs for his church’s fundraising appeal.
St John the Baptist Church in Cudworth has been facing structural issues that are particularly affecting the west window masonry, roof and plastering.
It’s anticipated that around £750,000 is needed to fully restore the building to its glory - and Fr Darren has taken part in a series of fundraisers to help save the 19th century building.
And today might be his hairiest task yet as he gets his legs waxed for the cause.
He told the Chronicle: “We want to be able to raise as much money and raise as much interest as possible in the restoration project.
“It’s also about engaging the church with the rest of the community.
“It’s a bit of fun.
“The church doesn’t always need to be serious.
“We’re just normal people who can have a laugh as well.”
Fr Darren will be joined by Rhianne Ledger Rhilax and Rhivive this evening.
