THURNSCOE Library is set to close later this month as the site undergoes a huge transformation.
This work is part of the ongoing Libraries Refurbishment Programme to invest in modern and accessible community spaces.
It will close on July 25 and it is expected to reopen before Christmas following extensive improvement works.
The new library will include an enhanced children’s library with a colourful, dinosaur-inspired theme, as well as new shelving and displays, and flexible, modern spaces for work, community events and getting lost in a good book.
While Thurnscoe Library is closed, the nearest library services can be found at Goldthorpe Library on Barnsley Road in Goldthorpe.
A council spokesperson said: “We are pleased that work will begin soon on the refurbishment of Thurnscoe Library.
“These works will provide a modern, welcoming and flexible library space where people of all ages will be able to discover new books, study, and enjoy taking part in community activities.”
