THREE players who came through an esteemed feeder club got to see the blue plaque which will honour their founder.

Mark Crook ran his Wath Wanderers team on behalf of Wolves in Brampton for three decades and in total found more than 100 professional footballers with most heading the way of Molineux.

Three of his finds, including Steve Daley and Hull duo Bob Hatton and Gerry Taylor, attended a talk on Crook’s achievements at Wolves Museum last week and got to see the tribute which will be placed at Cortonwood Miners’ Welfare later this month.

Daley later joined Manchester City for a British transfer record fee, Taylor played in a UEFA Cup final for Wolves whilst Hatton made more than 600 appearances and became a talisman striker for both Birmingham City and Sheffield United.

The blue plaque unveiling is scheduled for May 30 at 2pm and people are invited to attend.

The Molineux talk was given by local football administrator and historian Chris Brook and Barnsley Chronicle journalist Ashley Ball who is writing a book on Crook’s achievements.

It is due to be released later this year.
