A LOCAL councillor has praised the work done to improve one of the main roads into Barnsley town centre.

The A635 Doncaster Road in Darfield was recently the subject of a new resurfacing scheme by Barnsley Council.

Traffic lights and road closures were set up in the area while the work took place, with the resurfacing officially completed last week.

And Coun Kevin Osborne, who represents the Darfield ward, has praised the council for their work.

He said: “Darfield councillors were pleased to see the work to improve A635 Doncaster Road was performed efficiently with minimal disruption, especially as it is a busy gateway to Barnsley and connects Darfield to other communities.

“This work is part of Barnsley Council’s £17m investment in roads through the Highways Capital Programme, including principal roads, side streets, potholes, and annual maintenance.”
