A FOSTERING agency celebrated its three year anniversary in style by meeting boxer Anthony Joshua and seeing him train.
Safe Base Fostering was started three years ago and was founded by three women who wanted to create an agency that was local and personable.
The aim was that it would also recruit its foster carers via word of mouth and was based on reputation.
The agency, which is based in Wath-upon-Dearne, is run by Hollie Barker of Barugh Green, Alison Wells of Monk Bretton and Michelle Monteiro of Rotherham.
They met heavyweight world champ Anthony at a charity ball last year after winning one of his signed gloves in an auction and told him about Safe Base Fostering. The trio were invited to see the unified world heavyweight champion at the English Institute of Sport on their third anniversary earlier this month.
Hollie said: “It was a privilege to meet someone at the top of their game and tell us he was proud of what we were doing. It’s great that a local Yorkshire company has the backing of such an amazing British sports star.”
