A MUM who was facing her first Christmas since her 19-year-old son died from cancer has paid tribute to a Barnsley woman who donated a dinner to her grieving family.

Trish Hall, who lost Daniel Binney on June 19, has spent the rest of 2015 setting up a charity called Dan’s Helping Hand, which aims to help bereaved families of young adults with the unexpected expenses of funeral costs.

The 46-year-old, who won a Proud of Barnsley award for her work in November, received a full Christmas dinner from Kerry-Anne Beet, 28, who posted an advertisement on a Facebook selling page.

Trish, whose name was drawn at random out of a hat, said: “I couldn’t believe it when my name was announced. I was in Asda and just started crying as it was so overwhelming.

“After everything that’s happened we weren’t even planning on having a Christmas dinner.”
