A MAN who committed two ram-raid style burglaries at separate Barnsley shops has been handed a suspended prison sentence.

Shane William Greenwood appeared at Sheffield Crown Court on Tuesday for sentencing after pleading guilty to two counts of burglary at a previous hearing.

The court was told he committed two ram raids within minutes of each other causing thousands of pounds damage. He used a vehicle to break into the Costcutter store at Mapplewell stealing alcohol valued at more than £500, and and the did the same at the Body Language shop in Darton.

Greenwood, 31, of no fixed address, was sentenced to 16 months suspended for two years. He was also ordered to complete a 40 day rehabilitation activity requirement.
