HEAVY snowfall hit Barnsley overnight and continues to fall this morning causing delays on many commuters' journeys to work.
Some major routes have been closed because of snow and ice and side roads are treacherous.

Wakefield Road in Barnsley is partially blocked causing heavy traffic in both directions at the Shaw Lane junction, because of a jackknifed lorry.
The A628 Woodhead Pass is closed between Flouch Roundabout in Langsett and the A57 Woolley Lane junction in Mottram because of ice and snow.
The Barnsley Sport Awards due to take place tonight at the Metrodome at 7pm have been cancelled.
