POLICE officers in Barnsley have found knives hidden away in ‘stash points’ while conducting searches this week.
As part of Operation Sceptre, the police have been identifying the locations that criminals use to hide weapons.
Two knives, which were concealed in bushes, were recovered in the Grimethorpe area as a result of these searches.
Teams across Barnsley have also executed three warrants - resulting in four weapons being seized and two people arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis.
Sergeant Simon Kirkham said: “Sceptre allows us to show our communities the work that goes on all year round.
“We don’t just complete these searches during one week - they are carried out frequently in area that we know criminals use to stash weapons.
“The weapons located as part of this activity have been seized, ensuring they won’t find their way into the hands of criminals.”
