KEIRA Henry has turned heads with her entry into a major beauty pageant.
The 16-year-old Barnsley College student is set to compete in the Miss Royal UK pageant from October 25 to October 26, as Miss Teen South Yorkshire.
The pageant is the UK’s only official entry into the Royal International Miss competition held in Florida, USA.
Winners can hope to score a wealth of prizes, such as a crown, a sash, a photoshoot, a free entry into the Royal International Miss competition and more.
Hailing from Wombwell, Keira has previously competed in pageants from the age of 11.
After she suffered from low self-esteem, Keira’s mum encouraged her and her sister to enter pageants to improve their self-confidence.
She has won Miss Congeniality, a personality-based title nominated by other participants in Miss Diamond, 2022.
Her chosen charity for the pageant is Macmillan, for which she has raised an impressive £338.30.
Keira told the Chronicle that the cause was close to her heart, commenting: “I know a lot of people who have been diagnosed with and suffered from cancer.
“I wanted to support people with cancer and their families.”
Keira is working hard in preparation for the pageant and is proud to be representing Barnsley.
She added: “I’ve been practising my walk a lot and practising my interview questions with my boyfriend.
“I’ve also been taking things to charity bins.
“It means a lot because, as a normal teenage girl who has gone into college and struggles with dyslexia, I can show other teenage girls that they can do it.
“Anything is possible.
“If you don’t try, you don’t know.”
