BARNSLEY’S schedule of all-Yorkshire clashes in the next month has been added to by the FA Cup first round draw which has pitted them at home to York City.
The games are due to take place on the weekend of October 31-November 3, after the Reds’ league matches against Bradford and Rotherham but before they visit Doncaster.
York are currently seventh in the National League, having finished second last season with 96 points then lost in the play-offs.
The Reds drew 2-2 in a pre-season friendly in July at York who, a month later, parted company with manager Adam Hinshelwood and replaced him with former Notts County boss Stuart Maynard.
Barnsley have a dominant record against the Minstermen, losing just two of the 30 meetings, drawing eight and winning 20 including the last eight. The most recent encounter was almost exactly ten years ago when new signing Adam Hammill inspired a 2-1 win in the EFL Trophy.
Barnsley reached the second round last season with a win at Port Vale but lost on penalties at home to Bristol Rovers.
