Equipment including a computer and three digital cameras have been stolen from a Brierley nursery.

Manager Vicky Ray said she was frightened to enter Brierley Playmates in Brierley Park after discovering the break in last Wednesday.

"It was just an awful feeling because you don't know if they are there hiding or they're watching," she said.

"It's just not a nice feeling when you know people have gone through your things."

Vicky said the barrel of a lock on the door had been pushed through to gain entry.

She said the office had been rummaged through and a computer, three digital cameras, a drill and two telephones had been taken.

She says she has worked at the nursery for six years and there have never been any break-ins before.

With children coming through the doors, the lack of cameras and a computer has been a real inconvenience she says.

Vicky says the cameras are used to take pictures of the children to track their time at nursery and the computer is also handy for emails.

The nursery is now back up and running, she says and the police have investigated.

Luckily a parent has given the nursery a digital camera and another kind parent has donated a computer.

Vicky said the nursery had been closed over the summer and she checked on the building on August 28.

She believes the incident took place some time between August 28 and September 4.
