RELENTLESS vandals have caused damage to Wombwell Park over the past year that has an estimated cost of more than £2,000 to repair.

The pavilion, brickwork in front of it and a decorative brick circle have all been targeted by the vandals over the past year.

Coun Robert Frost said a quote for £420 had been given for the latest damage, an attempt to break into the pavilion, with the funding having to come from either the councillors devolved ward budget or raised by the Friends of Wombwell Park voluntary group.

Coun Frost said: “It is very disappointing, we have had volunteers in there doing a very good clear up not too long ago. Lots of people use it for walking their dogs and for the playground. There must be somebody who knows who it is that is doing it. I would ask them to ring the police or Crimestoppers if they want to be anonymous, or get in touch with any of the local councillors.”
