BLISTERING heat, dehydration and saddle sores are what these men can expect when they cross the finishing line of a charity bike ride in Africa.
Mike Hyde, 23, of Field Head Crescent, Hoyland and Mike Brown, 23, of Chapeltown will take part in the gruelling event in Kenya in November.
The 268-mile journey is expected to take five days and the lads must first raise £3,000 each for the International Childcare Trust before they can set off.
Mike said: “We were wanting to do something while we both didn't have jobs or other attachments and we spotted this and both thought we'd challenge ourselves.
“It’s going to be a lot hotter than it is over here and we'll be two and a half thousand foot above sea level so the air will be thin.”
The brutal time schedule means that the cyclists will be expected to complete nearly 54 miles a day so the pair have already began training.
And the former Hallam university students have enlisted the support of family and friends - including a celebrity - to help raise the funds.
