When Adam Davies last missed a Barnsley match, Donald Trump's presidential campaign had only just started and the Brexit vote was months away from even being announced.

In football, Leicester City were still not being taken seriously as the early Premier League pacesetters while Barnsley were in the League One relegation zone and six matches into a run of eight successive defeats.

It has been nearly 700 days since the 25-year-old goalkeeper played in a 4-3 loss at Coventry City on November 3, 2015 which was the first of 99 successive starts without missing a minute. Tomorrow at Wolverhampton Wanderers, he is set to make it 100, which is the most since fellow 'keeper David Watson managed 99 in the 1990s.

Davies said: "It's going to be a proud day, obviously if selected. I am looking forward to getting it out of the way but it will be a really good day and I'd love to add to it with a clean sheet and a win. The key has been hard work on the training pitch. I look after myself off the pitch with yoga and pilates which has been a massive benefit and kept me in tip top shape. The main high point has been the play-off final which was the best day of my career so far and the lows have been the personal mistakes I have made, but I have learned to deal with them a lot better and bounce back.

"I can never get comfortable because my performances will dip. Nick Townsend (the other senior goalkeeper) has been unbelievable in training this season so that makes me think 'keep at it.' I want to keep the run going as long as I can. Every game I play I can feel I am learning and improving."

The last Red to play 100 matches in a row was Nicky Eaden who eventually appeared in 150 consecutive games, with the run ending after a League Cup tie at Chesterfield 20 years ago this month.
