SHOCKED residents of a quiet cul-de-sac are still reeling after a woman was stabbed to death just yards from their back gardens.

Jane Sally Lee, 51, suffered multiple stab wounds at an area known as Spooners Garage, off Little Westfield Lane, Royston just after lunchtime last Friday.

Locals on West Grove whose homes overlook the scene said it was a quiet street and this was the last thing you would expect to happen.

A man was letting his dog out into the back garden when he saw a dark car racing off down the lane.

He said: "This car came flying round and I thought what the hell was that. I though it might have run over a dog or cat and looked out of the window but this was the last thing I thought I would see.

"We have lived here 40 years and it is a quiet place. Once in a while you might get the odd young fellow but we don't get a lot of problems."
