MICHELLE Hooley plans to rebuild her £300,000 dream home - a year after her husband burnt it down.

She is hopeful work on rebuilding the six bedroomed bungalow at Burton Road, Monk Bretton can get underway around February.

Michelle wants the lay out, colour schemes and decorations to be as they were before that fateful night on February 17 when after a row at a party her husband Gary Hooley torched it.

Their short marriage had begun to break down due to her concerns about his excessive gambling. The home was gutted and £90, 000 worth of possessions and valuables were destroyed.

He was convicted at Sheffield Crown Court three weeks ago of arson and will be sentenced in the New Year.

This week Michelle, 49, submitted plans to re-create the home she had been doing up and renovating since she bought it in 1996.

It was in the village where she grew up, her parents and eldest daughter live in Monk Bretton and it is where she always wanted to be.

She had even created an upstairs area with a bedroom and walk- in shower room so her other daughter Lauren, 21, and boyfriend David could live in their own space.

Michelle said: "I want it as it was because that is how I had planned it. It was the dream of how I wanted my house. All rooms were cream apart from my bedroom which was Cuban red. The kitchen and bathroom were black and white.

"I am going to have them the same because that is my taste and it is what I wanted."

Although she never had any intention to sell the land off to developers she won't know until the bungalow is ready whether she and her daughter can bring themselves to live there again. • Fullstory in this week's Chronicle
