CANNABIS worth about £7,500 was found dumped near an isolated farm near Silkstone.
A lady smelled the pungent drug off Fall Head Lane on Wednesday and called police at about noon.
Officers recovered 25 plants - with a street value of £300-each - and filled six large sacks with the dope.
Police spokesman, PC Adi Waites, believes the drug was discarded by someone who had grown it at home and was afraid of detection.
He said: "People don't just dump that amount of cannabis because it is worth a lot of money.
"We have been targeting cannabis factories as part of our Operation Impact. So many have been dismantled we believe someone has started to panic and has dumped the lot."
