WORK on replacing Darton High with a multimillion pound super-school will start this year, if plans are approved by the council.
An outline application was granted in 2006 by the council for Barnsley Partnership for Learning to carry out the development and detailed plans were submitted this week for the design and access of the Advanced Learning Centre.

It will be built on the playing field area next to the existing school, providng 1,200 places and specialising in arts and humanities and incorporating special needs units.
