You've heard of cat burglars....well this time it's stolen chickens.
Roy Copley could not believe it when a neighbour knocked at his door to tell him 22 of his 24 birds had been taken.
Only a cockerel and a solitary hen remained at his Birdwell allotment when he went to tend to them on Wednesday.
"It's unbelievable. What would someone want with all my chickens," he said. "When my neighbour told me I said don't be daft but when I got here, all but two were gone.
"They've even taken the feeder out of the shed."
Police have appealed for anyone with information as to the whereabouts of the chickens to call 736030.
