A DARTON man is cycling all the way to Leipzig to help boost two charities.
Richard Kelly will leave Rugby for the German city in June in a momentous 1,266km ride.
Richard is riding to aid both Papyrus and Overgate Hospice in the ride he estimates will take him five or six days.
The company he works for, Deponti, have offices in Rugby and in Leipzig so he’s heading between the two.
He said: “The ride will take me through multiple countries including France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany and I will be navigating diverse terrains and weather conditions.
“The challenge is not just a test of endurance but also a mission to make a difference in the lives of those in need.
“I’m excited but also a little nervous about the journey ahead, having back up from my company Deponti on route will be a big support though
“I am cycling to support several charities as Jack Allott was a friend of my 15-year-old son.
“I’m also cycling in memory of my good friend Joe Kitcher.
“No-one would ever forget Joe if they met him.
“Sadly Joe died of a brain tumour in 2018, he was only 58, his palliative care was given by Overgate Hospice, they are currently in need of donations to support their hospice facilities and need as many donations as possible to support their ‘Big Build Project’.”
