TWO groups of fundraisers who have collectively raised more than £50,0000 over the last few years handed over a cheque worth £2,100 to Weston Park Cancer Charity last week.

Top O’Doderth Bottom Group and Heaven and Ale’s Grabby Grannies meet every week to raise money for charities close to their heart.

They’ve collectively raised around £43,000 for Barnsley Hospice - but they’ve also hosted fundraisers for other charities such as BIADS, Macmillan and MND.

And they were pleased to hand over a cheque worth £2,133 to Weston Park at a special event attended by the then Mayor of Barnsley John Clarke and the Mayoress Doreen.

Fundraiser Judy Holling said: “The Heaven and Ale group is mature, friendly, lonely ladies who come together.

“It’s the community that have been helping us as well.

“We couldn’t have done it without them.

“We’ve managed to raise more than £43,000 for Barnsley Hospice but we’ve also done fundraisers for Dreamflight, Weston Park, Betta Lives, BIADS, Macmillan, MND and Ey Up.”
