PLANNED strikes have been called off at two schools.
Teachers at Longcar primary and Darton High were due to stage one-day walk outs this week in a row over pay and responsibilities.
But following talks between National Union of Teachers' representatives and Barnsley Council - under the supervision of the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service - the action was called off.
Pete Bevis, Barnsley NUT secretary, said a position was reached that could lead to a resolution of the long-running dispute.
"As a gesture of goodwill and to maintain its desire to reach a solution the NUT has agreed to suspend the strike action," he added.
More meeting are scheduled to try to settle the dispute.
