Several roads will be closed between Barnsley town centre and Cawthorne when the Cannon Hall run takes place next month.

 

The race starts on County Way and finishes at Cawthorne Park with about 1,500 runners expected to take part on Sunday, August 12. Road closures will be in effect from 9.30am to noon.
The route is: County Way, Old Mill Lane, Church Street, Shambles Street, St Marys Gate, Church Lane, Huddersfield Road, Wilthorpe Road, Barugh Green Road, Cawthorne Road, Lane Head Road, Church Street, Hill Top, Taylor Hill, Tivy Dale, Tivy Dale Drive and The Park.
Organisers say there will be a mixture of roa closures and rolling closures.
Full closures: Old Mill Lane, Church Street (Barnsley), Shambles Street, St Marys Gate, Church Lane, Church Street (Cawthorne), Hill Top, Taylor Hill, Tivy Dale, Tivy Dale Drive and The Park.
Rolling closures: Huddersfield Road, Wilthorpe Road, Barugh Green Road, Cawthorne Road, Lane Head Road.
There will also be a one way restriction in place on Lane Head Road/Cawthorne Road prohibiting traffic from travelling from Silkstone Lane towards Higham Common Road. A diversion will be in place along the A635 Barnsley Road/A629 Lane Head Road/Penistone Road/Huddersfield Road/Halifax Road/A628 Barnsley Road/Whinby Road/Higham Lane/Higham Common Road.
Wilthorpe Avenue and Rowland Road will be closed at the junction with A635 Huddersfield Road/Wilthorpe Road.
