ONE ALL-BARNSLEY derby took place in the Sheffield Senior Cup on Wednesday evening and there are due to be two more in the coming week.

Penistone Church won 4-1 at home to near neighbours Silkstone United, who play two divisions below them, in midweek.

Dodworth MW are set to host Cudworth club Elite AFC on Saturday then Athersley Rec welcome Wombwell Town on Tuesday.

Silkstone held Penistone to 0-0 for 66 minutes until Harry Ogden scored an own goal.

Sam Scrivens then netted twice with Kieran Ryan also on target.

Ben Donughue grabbed a late consolation for United.

The next Barnsley clash sees Dodworth, who play in the County Senior League, host Central Midlands League Elite on Saturday.

Elite boss Shane Pallett said: “It is a bit of an unknown.

“We don’t cross paths very often.

“What I hear about them is it’s a tough place to go.

“It’s always hard when you bring two sides from different leagues together.

“We’re both step seven. It would be massive for a club like us to get through and play one of the teams much higher than us.

“We’ve done it before against Sheffield FC and Wombwell Town.”

Dodworth manager Paul Jackson said: “It should be a good one. They are a team we don’t know much about.

“It would be brilliant to get through a few rounds.

“If we get through I would love to draw Worsbrough, Athersley or Wombwell Town at home. That would be good for us and football in Barnsley.”

The other derby sees Athersley Rec, who play in NCEL Division One, welcome Wombwell Town who play in the NCEL Premier, in midweek.

Rec boss Rob Landon said: “We’ve got a big league game against Nostell then Wombwell Town in the cup so it’s a week to look forward to.

“We beat Wombwell on penalties in a friendly in pre-season but this will be very different. It would be nice if we could get a decent crowd down.

“The Sheffield Cup is not our priority, we’re not going to win it.

“But we want to win every game especially a Barnsley derby.”
