WATH had to rally from 21-0 down to progress in the RFU Cup.

Wath made a horrow start up at Yarnbury and were trailing by three converted tries within ten minutes before Anthony Davies and Luke Stead went over to get them back in the match.

Scrum half Josh Bird then touched down after player-coach Ryan Burrows’s rampaging run and a successful conversion from Jack Whitlam brought the scores to 21-17.

James Thompson’s try was also converted by Whitlam to put Wath ahead but the home side responded with a try of their own to lead again.

Davies’s second was converted too but Yarnbury drew level with another try.

Whitlam then kicked over a penalty before Burrows got in on the act with a try which Whitlam converted to ensure a 41-31 victory.

Wath’s second team won 50-19 at home against Old Brodleians.
