A couple who lived in Barnsley for just a couple of years have been overwhelmed by the welcome on their return.
Michael and Liz Murray have lived in Perth, Australia for ten years and before they emigrated lived in the Channel Islands for 12 years.
They briefly lived in Barnsley in 1995 and again in 2005, but Michael has a large family who still live in the town.
The couple returned to visited last month and a party was organised for them at the Shaw inn, Barnsley, by Michael's brother John and his partner Sue.
Michael, 45, who has four brothers and a sister in the town, said they had a fantastic time.
"Most family members attended including cousins and friends, and two Barnsley Football t-shirts were kindly issued to my boys Ciaran, nine, and Aidan, seven."
Michael, who works as a buyer for the government, and Liz, 50, a nurse, visited London, Kent, Leicester, Manchester, Leeds and Newmarket on their visit.
Michael added: "The whole holiday was a lot of travelling and organising but, on reflection, Barnsley people are the salt of the earth, friendly, humorous and say it as it is."
