A SHAFTON care home are appealing for donations to support veterans across the town this winter.

Holly Tree Lodge Nursing Home’s care home manager Kasia Szatowska and team leader Hayley Werra are among those appealing for tinned food donations for charity Help 4 Homeless Veterans.

Anyone wishing to support the cause can donate items at the reception area of the home.

A spokesperson said: “We are collecting tinned foods to support the ‘Help4Homeless Veterans’ organisation, who support homeless veterans that may be finding this time of year especially tough.

“At the same time, we are also collaborating with the Help 4 Homeless Veterans with their ‘Buy A Brick’ community scheme with one big goal - to raise enough money to purchase a permanent home in South Yorkshire for veterans who are currently facing homelessness.

“Here at Holly Tree we are a specialist EMI nursing home, veteran-friendly, and are also proud holders of the bronze award from the armed forces covenant.

“We want to support the veteran community as much as we possibly can.

“We have donation areas situated in our reception area, but we are also available to collect if anybody is unable to reach us but would like to donate. “
