WINGER Fabio Jalo has joined League Two Oldham Athletic on loan for the rest of the season.
The 20-year-old signed his first professional contract with the Reds in July 2022 at the age of 16.
In January 2024, Barnsley extended his deal through to June 2027.
He has played three times in the league this season having returned from injury but has not been in the match day squad for the past three games.
Head coach Conor Hourihane said: “Fábio is a terrific young player with real energy and quality, and this loan will give him the chance to play regular football at an important stage in his development.
“Oldham proved to be a great environment for Vimal last season, and that experience has helped him return as a stronger member of our first-team squad.
"We’re confident Fábio will benefit in the same way.
"We’ll be keeping a close eye on his progress and look forward to seeing him come back even better for the experience.”
