‘SIGNIFICANT’ financial pressures are being faced by Barnsley Hospital.
A new report has revealed the Gawber site’s financial plight, with a consolidated deficit of £735,000 being logged against a plan of £145,000.
It added: “The entire NHS system continues to face significant financial pressures and we are no exception.
“As part of the South Yorkshire system, we remain under considerable pressure to reduce the overall deficit.
“This challenge is expected to persist into future financial years.
“We are working diligently - both internally and in collaboration with our partners at place and across the wider system - to further reduce the deficit.
“Our focus is on driving greater efficiency while maintaining the quality of care, as we work towards achieving a balanced financial position over the coming years.
“Medium term financial plans have been submitted and verified by NHS England and our delivery plans are now well advanced.”
