A GROUP of fundraising Barnsley fans have raised more than £5,000 for good causes this season.

East Dene Reds, who work out of East Dene Working Men’s Club, choose a charity every year to raise money for.

And this year they’ve gone above and beyond - taking part in a whole host of fundraising events throughout the season.

They have raised more than £5,000 for local dementia charity Butterflies and are set to host a presentation event at the club tomorrow from midday.

Dani Copley, who runs the club, told the Chronicle: “Every year we choose a charity to raise money for and this year it was Butterflies Dementia Group who use our pub every Friday.

“We have fundraised all season.

“We even walked from Oakwell to Huddersfield Town in February.

“We’ve raised over £5,000.”
