Celtic coaches have been ringing David Flitcroft asking him how he got Paddy McCourt to close players down after seeing Barnsley's goal against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

The Northern Irish international was much loved by the Glasgow club's fans but is more known for his incredible dribbling skills than for pressing.

Flitcroft said: "Paddy got us the goal through pressing Reda Johnson and we've had phone calls from Celtic saying 'you've got Paddy McCourt pressing. What's going on?' But that is what we ask of every single player at the football club."

McCourt is a doubt for Friday's clash with Ipswich due to a problem with his glute.

Flitcroft added: "We're working with the medical department and making sure it doesn't get any worse. What I don't want to do is play Paddy and then not have him for four to six weeks."
