SHAFTON’S area forum representative claims he has been booted off the panel for political reasons.
At the last meeting of the Cudworth/North east area meeting councillors agreed on the co-opted members for the year and local farmer Albert Tucker was not reinstated.
He will be replaced by John Bambridge of Great Houghton Parish Council and the other co-optees are Father David Nicholson of St John’s Church, Cudworth and Mick Hanley of Brierley Town Council.
Mr Tucker says he has not been co-opted back onto the panel this year because he is no longer a Labour party member and because of a rift between Shafton Parish Council and the North East ward councillors.
He has been the parish council’s co-opted representative since the forums began in 1999 and says he has attended more meetings than any of the other co-opted members and always contributes to debates and presentations.
