VANDALS have destroyed a willow tunnel built to form a 'living' birdwatchers' hide.
Graham Murdin, who helped create a willow tunnel at New Park Springs, came across the broken remnants of the structure on his daily walk around the 56-hectare site.
The 71-year-old, of Burntwood Road, said: "It is a terrible thing to see as a lot of people gave up their own time to create it. We built it by burying the willow ends and weaving the rods together to form its outline, which would have then grown.
"It is nothing more than senseless destruction. The leaves had just started to grow and it would have been lovely when in bloom."
