The Picanto faces quite a lot of competition within the city car market, including the likes of the Toyota Aygo, Skoda's Citygo, and the Volkswagen UP. However the newly reformed Picanto has seen a number of changes this 2015 to keep it in the game.It comes in 11 different models to suit each individuals needs, ranging from the 5 door Picanto 1 up to the top of the range Picanto 4. However also on offer is the slightly sportier 3 Door SR7, which comes with finishes you could expect from any other high end car including a leather trimmed steering wheel, Auto light control, privacy glass and Bluetooth voice recognition.I drove the Kia 2 1.0 EcoDynamic, which came with an impressive host of features including steering wheel mounted controls, Bluetooth connectivity and USB & AUX Ports. There are several models that feature the EcoDymantic technology. Kia claim that this fuel-stretching intelligent Stop and Go(ISG) Technology can help save up to 12% more fuel and reduce carbon footprints. When you come to a stop, all you have to do is change gear into neutral and remove your foot from the clutch to automatically switch off the engine. Then to set off again, pressing back down on the clutch instantly re-starts the engine. This impressive technology can help achieve up to 67 miles to the gallon! When I first set off in this car I was a little unsure as to whether I liked it or not as I felt that the clutch was a little high, which left my first impressions a little low. However when I had got used to driving the car I did notice myself liking it more and more! To say the car I drove was only a 1.0ltr engine, it was definitely nippy and had no issues getting up to speed. This car is definitely at its best when it is cruising around town and although a little lagging when drove on the motorways, it is still not disappointing. This car would be a perfect first car, a cheap run around or even good as a fleet car for running costs and practicality. Picanto's that do not feature the EcoDynamic are still very efficient cars achieving up to 68.9 mpg and a low emissions or around 100 g/km.In terms of the Picanto's looks, it has definitely had a facelift in the sense that it looks that bit more edgier, which chiselled lines that create quite a sporty look. The "tiger-nose" grill that is surrounded by swept back headlines does contribute to a unique style that I really do appreciate, and to say it's a smaller car, I was pleasantly surprised by the interior space! The interior is very neat and would comfortably seat a small family, especially the 5 door series. The car comes with 60:40 split-folding seats as standard which helps to improve the cars practicality, and also a generous 200 litre boot capacity. For a smaller car, the Picanto certainly felt sturdy and offered a comfortable ride.In terms of storage, there are plenty of different compartments dotted around the interior, a decent sized glove box and the model I drove also had a large twin cup holder space underneath the centre console. So the question is what is actually new about the new 2015 models compared to previous ones? Well the exterior has undergone a bit of a facelift for a start! With a new styled radiator grille, a redesigned rear bumper and the choice of two new colours - Honey Bee Yellow & Atlantic Blue, the overall look of the car has been modernised and in my eyes looks more appealing. There has also been a few changes made to the cars features, for example the audio systems has been upgraded to provided clearer sound quality. The former Picanto VR7 has become the SR7 and gains a range of new added equipment and there have been a number of changes to other models such as Cruise Control & Speed Limiters been added to the Picanto 4 model.Overall Kia's have now become a lot more desirable for their style and quality as well as their fantastic value for money. Kia's reputation is definitely on the up, and are becoming a lot more appealing within the market. This is understandable with the ever developing technology and distinctive designs that are now been offered. As with all Kia models, the Picanto comes with a seven-year/100,000 mile warranty.Prices start at a reasonable cost of £8,000 OTR.The 5 door Kia Picanto 2 EcoDynamics I drove was just over £10,000 OTR.
