A PUB landlord has called for earlier closing times in pubs and clubs in the town centre.
Paul McNicholas, proprietor of Annie Murray’s Irish Bar on the Victorian Arcade, said something needed to be done to improve the reputation of the town and the clientele to make it a more pleasant environment.
Paul, a former chairman of Pubwatch, said he would like pubs to agree to close at 3am.
“The police haven’t got the resources to police it like they used to, they can’t police the town up to 6am and beyond. Sometimes it goes beyond licensing hours and then the likes of market traders and people who are opening up are seeing it too.”
