A FORMER prison officer from Barnsley has been paid out after ‘catching TB from inmates’.
Fiona Murphy, 45, of Brierley, looked after prisoners at high security HMP Wakefield and as part of her job she would often accompany nursing staff on their rounds.
She claims she was unknowingly exposed to tuberculosis at work and has been awarded a five figure pay out from her bosses.
In 2010 Fiona was asked to help attend to four poorly prisoners, but claims it was not until several days later she discovered they were suffering from highly infectious TB.
