Barnsley's away trip to face former manager David Flitcroft's Bury was called off on Boxing Day morning.
A pitch inspection was carried out at 10am at Gigg Lane and the surface was deemed unplayable.
Heavy rain in the Greater Manchester area has also resulted in flooding in the stands.
A new date for the fixture will be set for the new year and fans are being urged to keep hold of their tickets.
