POLICE investigating the theft of an elderly woman’s purse have released this CCTV image of man they want to trace.
They believe he could help with enquiries after the 82-year-old woman’s purse was taken while she was shopping in Kendray Street in the town centre.
The incident happened on December 21 at about 12.25pm.
The purse has since been recovered, but a quantity of cash has been taken from it.
PC Phil Hays said: “While we appreciate that the image is not of the best quality, I would ask people who were in the area at the time to give some thought to the clothing the man in the picture is wearing.
“The man we would like to speak to is described as white, about 6ft tall and of a slim build. He was wearing a dark coloured jacket with the hood up and grey jogging trousers. Ê
“Did you see anyone wearing this at the time of the incident? Did you see anything suspicious? If you can help, please call 101 quoting incident number 422 of December 21.”Ê
