Caretaker Paul Heckingbottom says that the club are preparing their transfer targets for the new season for whichever league they may be in.

The Reds have been working on identifying possible new players with Heckingbottom admitting recently that last summer's recruitment was not as successful as they would have hoped. A list of targets have been drawn up for if they stay in League One and also for if they earn promotion via the play-offs to the Championship. Heckingbottom hinted that some players would feature on both lists.

He told the Chronicle: "We will have the same plan in terms of the same types of players. "We have to plan and target certain players which we would go for regardless."

The caretaker says that the extra financial earnings from going into the Championship would allow them to sign more strength in depth as well as a better quality of player. He added: "Obviously if we were in a higher league we would have a bit more money and we could have extra quality on top of what we have. You can be wasting your time and energy on something that's not going to happen but we know it's there and it would be a nice bonus."
