ROAD closures on streets around Oakwell have been approved by council bosses as part of an emergency evacuation plan in the event of a major incident at the stadium.
A traffic regulation order was given the green light by the ruling cabinet to allow closures that will prevent vehicle access to both ends of Pontefract Road, from the bottom of the slip road from Harborough Hills and also at Cundy Cross roundabout, only in case of an emergency should fans need to be evacuated from the football ground.
Further closures will then stop traffic travelling onto emergency services rendezvous points on Belgrave Road, Grove Street and Beevor Court, which form the evacuation route.
