A GOLDTHORPE boy has raised more than £700 for a cancer charity by organising his own fun run.

Devon Rushforth was inspired to set up the run, held as part of Goldthorpe Development Group’s Bounce Into Summer event, after a visit to Sheffield’s Weston Park Hospital.

Devon and grandmother Julie White, from Lindale Gardens, Goldthorpe, were visiting the development group’s Sharon Jones, who is currently undergoing treatment for lung and breast cancer at the hospital.

Julie said: “Devon saw a sign for the children’s cancer ward and asked if children could suffer from it. I explained everything to him and he decided he wanted to do a fun run for kids with cancer.”
