POLICE are clamping down on antisocial behaviour in Athersley North after residents there claimed their lives were being made a misery.
The whole of the estate has been made a priority area for both police and council officers following repeated complaints made over the last six months about issues that have failed to be resolved.
This includes nuisance behaviour by youths and significant issues with off-road bikes tearing around the estate, something which has been made a policing priority by a local community safety meeting on a number of occasions.
Other problems encountered include reports of 20 or more youths congregating on fields on the estate to play football and then frightening old folk by knocking on their doors and running off before they answer.
