THE future of Mount Vernon Hospital needs ‘urgent clarification’ according to trade union Unite following fears it is to close.
The Chronicle understands an indication was been made to nursing staff at the hospital last week that it will close and more services will be provided in people’s homes instead.
The hospital needs significant modernisation and health bosses said last year they were ‘exploring all options’ for Mount Vernon.
This week South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust said it was reviewing the services provided from Mount Vernon but stressed that no ‘final decisions’ have been made.
