CHANGES to a new school transport policy have been delayed to allow the council to work ’more closely’ with parents on the proposals.

A report on findings from a Travel Assistance Policy consultation should have been presented to the ruling cabinet last week when members were going to be asked to support alternative transport provisions such as travel training, the use of personal budgets and mileage payments to be used as a way of developing independence in children.

However, the findings suggested some parents were not happy with the proposals but the report was withdrawn before it could be discussed.
