SCHOOLGIRL Charlotte Hollingworth walked away with the gong for best business at a young entrepreneurs awards ceremony for Barnsley youngsters.

The Horizon Community College pupil was among more than 70 young people who competed in 19 teams from ten schools to find the most enterprising project as part of the council’s I Know I Can business challenge.

The town’s budding business leaders were judged on quality of pitch, innovation and ability to make profit in a day-long competition at an event last month and found out who won at an awards ceremony held at the Holiday Inn in Dodworth last Wednesday.

The ceremony marks the end of this year’s challenge which has given young people the chance to experience what it is like to set up and run a business.

Best overall business award went to Charlotte, 15, for her Creative Freedom venture, a series of colouring books featuring iconic images of Barnsley for which she also won the secondary school award.
