BUDDING chef James Payne has landed a dream first job - a trainee position in one of Gordon Ramsey’s London restaurants.
James,18, of West Moor Crescent in Pogmoor, impressed Claridges' bosses when he did a two week stint of work experience in July.
And despite the long hours he will be expected to work, from 8am until midnight, he can’t wait to get back to the kitchen.
“I've wanted to be a chef since secondary school. I always loved my nan’s cooking and I used to go up a few days a week to watch her. Since she passed away it’s made me even more driven.”
James, who would like to become a pastry chef, met Gordon while he was at Claridges and was pleased to see there is another side to his fiery personality.
“It was a good experience to meet the person behind all the swearing, he's quite a nice bloke actually.”
