TRADERS at Barnsley market say they fear for the future due to a 50 per cent hike in parking charges.
The price of parking in the Lambra Road car park, which is closest to the market, went up on Monday from £1 for an hour to £1.50, for the same period.
For up to two hours the charge has gone up from £1.60 to £2.20 - an increase of just under 40 per cent.
And angry traders at the market say it’s putting customers off coming into town.
